André Ménard ranks among the most influential figures on the Québécois artistic scene, one who has made a considerable and lasting contribution in shaping the cultural life of Montréal. Ménard has been active in the concert production milieu since 1975, and has been associated with Alain Simard for over 35 years as co-founder and vice-president of L'Équipe Spectra. He is also co-founder and artistic director of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.
To call Ménard a true music lover would be a colossal understatement: year in and year out, his travels take him to over 300 concerts worldwide, and he is a regular on the international festival scene.
From 1995 to 2015, he was a member of the board of directors of dance company La La La Human Steps. He has also been on the board of directors of the Partenariat du Quartier des Spectacles since its inception in 2003. In fact, Ménard conceived of the original idea for a “Quartier des théâtres de Montréal”, an idea picked up and outlined for the first time during a speech presented by Alain Simard in the Chamber of Commerce in the late ’90s.
